Itinerary
Your safari begins as you land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. Your chauffeur driver guide welcomes you and drives toward the famous Masai Mara National Reserve. En route, you stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint, where you take in sweeping panoramas of the escarpment and distant volcanic peaks. You arrive at your lodge in the early afternoon, check in, and have time to rest. In the late afternoon, your guide takes you on your first game drive, where you may spot lions, elephants, and giraffes. Only breakfast is included at the lodge the next morning; dinner is on your own.
After breakfast, your chauffeur driver guide leads you on a full day of exploration across the vast plains of the Masai Mara. You will need to carry your own picnic lunch or purchase food at the lodge before departure, as no meals are provided. You search for the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino – as well as cheetahs, hyenas, and herds of wildebeest and zebras. The Mara River offers chances to see hippos and crocodiles. You return to your lodge in the late afternoon. Dinner is on your own, and you overnight with breakfast only for the next morning.
Breakfast is followed by a morning game drive, when wildlife is most active and the light is perfect for photography. You return to the lodge for a rest during the hottest part of the day; lunch is on your own. In the afternoon, you have the option to visit a traditional Maasai village, where you learn about local culture (payable locally). Alternatively, your guide takes you on another afternoon drive to different sectors of the reserve. Dinner is on your own. You overnight with breakfast only for the final morning.
Rise before dawn for a final game drive, one of the best times to see predators returning from a night of hunting. After two to three hours in the bush, you return to the lodge for a full breakfast. Then you check out and your chauffeur driver guide drives you back to Nairobi, with a brief stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint for last photos. You are dropped at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for your departure flight. No lunch or dinner is provided. The journey ends with memories of the Mara’s endless horizons and magnificent wildlife.
