Maafushi to Dambulla Escape

Your international flight lands at Velana International Airport in Male. A local representative greets you and escorts you to a shared speedboat for the fifteen minute ride to Maafushi island. You check into Trion Hotels in a Standard room on a bed and breakfast basis. The remainder of the day is free to relax, swim at the nearby bikini beach, or explore the sandy lanes. You overnight on this local island with breakfast ready for the next morning.

After breakfast, you have a full day to discover Maafushi at your own pace. You may walk to the local market, visit the community mosque, or book an optional snorkelling trip to a nearby reef. The island’s friendly cafes and beachfront shacks invite relaxed wandering. In the afternoon, you can rent a kayak or simply sunbathe on the public beach. Another free day allows you to explore more of Maafushi. You could take a public ferry to Male, the capital, to see the Grand Friday Mosque and the fish market. Alternatively, book a boat trip to a remote sandbank for swimming and a picnic. The evening is perfect for a sunset stroll along the harbour, followed by a seafood dinner at a local cafe. After breakfast and checkout, your shared speedboat transfers you back to Velana International Airport. You board your included domestic flight to Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo. Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, a chauffeur driver greets you and transfers you by private vehicle to Jetwing Beach in Negombo, a twenty minute drive. After breakfast, your chauffeur driver takes you on a four hour drive to the Dambulla region. En route, you experience an Authentic Village Tour with a bullock cart ride, a catamaran boat crossing, and a visit to a traditional mud house. A local family serves you a home cooked rice and curry lunch. Afterwards, you check into Jetwing Lake Dambulla. Dinner is included, and you settle in for your first of two nights.

Breakfast at the hotel is followed by a leisurely morning. In the afternoon, your chauffeur driver transfers you to Minneriya National Park for a four hour jeep safari in a 4x4 vehicle. You climb the 600‑foot Lion Rock, passing ancient frescoes and reaching the summit for panoramic views. You then check into Amaya Hills Kandy for dinner and overnight.

Your chauffeur driver meets you after breakfast for a local cooking demonstration led by a skilled chef. You prepare several classic Sri Lankan curries and then enjoy the meal you helped create. Afterwards, you visit the lively Kandy Central Market to see fresh produce, spices, and handmade textiles. This is a perfect spot to interact with friendly vendors and taste tropical fruits. You return to Amaya Hills Kandy for dinner and a second overnight.

Breakfast is followed by a transfer to Kandy Railway Station. Your chauffeur driver helps you board a scenic train bound for Nuwara Eliya, passing through tea plantations and misty mountains. After breakfast, your chauffeur driver leads a morning tour of Nuwara Eliya, known as Little England. You stroll around Lake Gregory, visit Victoria Park, and see colonial‑era buildings. The short tour also includes the Sita Amman Temple and the local produce market. Thereafter, you drive approximately four hours to Colombo, checking into a hotel for your final night. Dinner is on your own, allowing you to explore Colombo’s dining scene.
